I am a Juneau-based, multidisciplinary artist and educator who has worked for over 20 years in documentary filmmaking, music, prose, and audio and visual storytelling. I have a BA in Economics and Japanese language, and a MFA in Creative Non-Fiction.

I’ve taught children’s hands-on nature education, middle school media production, and university-level writing. I practice student-centric, inclusive, kinetic learning that works toward student-determined goals.

I am an uninvited settler in Lingít Aaní who is currently studying the Lingít language. My learner’s name, Kashóok’ kaawadaayi aa, was given to me from Khaagwáask’ Ishmael Hope, and means “one who flows through the electric waves.”

I love spending time with my life partner Brooke, and enjoy playing bluegrass-inspired country music, gardening, cooking, cycling, designing, making quasi-functional sculpture, cross country skiing, and embracing clean energy. I’m also working on various film and writing projects including a children’s book about sharing titled My Birthday! My Dirt! and a documentary titled Earnest Drinker: A Film about Relationships with Alcohol.

Authentimediaʼs vehicle is electric, and warms its studio with air-source heatpumps powered by clean hydroelectric power. Authentimedia operates with full licensing and comprehensive insurance coverage.

Acoustic Diffuser v1.0

Winter-fallen shéix̱ʼw red alder and sháchk ka.aasí shore pine chopped and arranged to diffuse sound waves. Rather than buying more foam pads for my studio, I wanted a locally sourced product. It actually works.

Phone Vault/Prophylactic V. 1.0

We all seem to know that our phones monitor our conversations and curate the adds that litter our social media and web searches. Until we get them to stop, the phone vault may help. It can also act as a prophylactic if you want to have phone-free social interactions.
